Grocery and Bulk Department Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grocery Assistant - Bulk and Dairy Department to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our grocery team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful operation and profitability of our grocery and bulk departments.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service as a top priority, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and memorable.
- Inventory Management: Assist in ordering and maintaining accurate inventory levels for the grocery, bulk, dairy, and frozen departments.
- Department Maintenance: Ensure that all in-stock products meet company standards, and maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Merchandising and Displays: Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays to create an inviting and engaging shopping experience.
- Training and Development: Assist in training and monitoring of department personnel, including assigning and following up on tasks.
- Cash Handling and Register Functions: Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, and addressing customer complaints.
- Safety and Security: Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Product Knowledge: Continuously increase product knowledge to provide expert advice to customers and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Technology and Systems: Utilize SAP and inventory management software, as well as other IS programs, to manage inventory, track sales, and analyze data.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- Supervisory Experience: 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
- Food Safety Training: Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to take direction, and follow through on tasks.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills: Highly organized with great attention to detail, ability to manage changing priorities, and stay focused on tasks.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
