Position Overview:
Typical work hours: 0 hours per week. Sunday to Saturday, 4:15 pm - 7 pm: Every other weekend/holiday; On-call

Role Purpose:
Under general supervision, the role involves assisting in delivering high-quality food services to meet the dietary needs of diverse age groups, from infants to seniors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, aiding in the preparation and distribution of meal trays for patients/residents, working in the dishwashing area, and performing various cleaning tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to the principles of compassion and expected behaviors as outlined in the organization's Model of Caring and Code of Conduct, ensuring all customers are treated in alignment with the institution's Mission and Values.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as the organization's Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct, to ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards.
  • Exhibit the Mission and Values of the organization consistently.
  • Engage in positive communication, uphold confidentiality, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Show flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of patient/resident meal trays by ensuring the station is set up and menu items are prepared according to guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service and cleaning of equipment, utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Responsible for cleaning the station, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and properly storing them post-cleaning. Clean dishwashing machines and/or pots and pans area as per procedures.
  • Demonstrate initiative to drive change within the department and collaborate with other departments.
  • Foster effective relationships within the department, with other departments, medical staff, and hospital guests.
  • Take an active role in personal and professional development to enhance job performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • On-the-job training will be provided to achieve normal productivity under close supervision.
  • A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Mandatory Reporter Training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment to promote a positive public image.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA) is essential.
  • Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Capability to perform basic calculations.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate food service equipment and serve food.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary.
  • Maintain a courteous and respectful attitude in interactions with colleagues, staff, patients/residents, and guests.
