Position Title: Bilingual Behavioral Health Therapist - LICSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LPC
We are looking for a dedicated social worker to fulfill the role of a Field Child Well-Being Professional. The successful candidate will provide on-site support in a DHS facility, offering professional insights, technical knowledge, and assistance related to child welfare and trauma-informed practices to DHS personnel. Therapists will be present for all 12-hour shifts, with up to two paid 30-minute debriefing sessions each day, resulting in a total of 13 compensated hours per shift. A commitment to working 15 shifts monthly is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the facility to identify concerns, respond to crises, stabilize situations, and refer children as necessary. This role involves non-clinical crisis intervention without diagnosis or treatment plan development.
- Provide support at various sites during peak times and as required.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure that trauma-informed care practices are effectively implemented and maintained, aligning with operational goals.
- Engage with children to assess their well-being, including identifying those in distress and conducting psychiatric triage when necessary.
- Facilitate smooth referrals for children to community behavioral or physical health providers as needed.
- Assist in coordinating care for children at the request of facility leadership, offering direct support to Supervisors, Agents, Medical Staff, and Caregivers managing children with special needs or ongoing health concerns.
- Act as a daily resource for DHS staff by addressing identified psychosocial needs of children and providing immediate care to those in crisis.
- Support the integration of existing services within the facility to enhance the well-being of children.
- Help with documentation and information transfer for individual cases upon request from leadership, considering the complex requirements for special placements.
- Provide updates on child welfare during regular staff meetings at the facility level.
- Conduct assessments of the facility environment to recommend and implement feasible measures to create a child-friendly atmosphere.
- Perform duties using a government-approved computer system, requiring strong skills in MS Word and Excel.
- Carry out related responsibilities as assigned, within the scope of practice.
- Ensure effective communication, accurate documentation, and timely interpretation of information.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Master's degree in social work or a related field such as Psychology, Sociology, or other relevant Behavioral Sciences.
- Independent and unrestricted licensure (LICSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent) is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience post-licensure, including work in child development and trauma-informed care.
- Experience conducting evaluations in direct engagement with children and families for at least 2 years post-licensure.
- Preferred experience in clinical or immigration settings.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- Ability to manage crisis situations with empathy and decisiveness.
- Experience assisting immigrants in accessing services and resources.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and MS Teams, with a typing speed of at least 45 wpm.
- Demonstrated ability to support a diverse clientele, including refugees and immigrant families.
- Aptitude for collaborating with personnel and social service agencies to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Comfortable using technology and quickly learning new software for data entry tasks.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining confidentiality.
- Knowledge of community resources for victims of abuse is preferred.
Requirements:
- Due to the critical nature of this role, employees may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to provide timely services.
- This position is classified as ESSENTIAL; Field Child Well-Being Professionals must report to work during emergencies or crises.
Security Clearance/Background Check:
- Selected applicants will undergo a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Residency requirement: 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years.
