Position Overview:
PeaceHealth is in search of a dedicated Patient Access Representative.
  • This role is available on a Per Diem/Relief basis with variable hours.
The compensation for this position is set at $31.09 per hour.

The starting salary is influenced by various factors, including education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

About PeaceHealth: Peace Island Medical Center is committed to fostering a supportive workplace environment. This role involves coordinating activities related to scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification processes.

The representative will serve as a liaison with physician practices, facilitating pre-visit services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately pre-registers and registers patients, ensuring all demographic and financial information is correct.
  • Collects patient payments, including balances, co-payments, and co-insurance.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and ensures compliance with all requirements, including obtaining prior authorizations and referrals as necessary.
  • Responds to patient inquiries and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
  • Manages daily appointment schedules, which may involve making reminder calls and contacting referrals.
  • May assist in transporting patients using appropriate equipment.
  • Handles incoming phone calls for the Emergency Department and may provide switchboard coverage.
  • Monitors alarm systems as required.
  • May assist with departmental charge entry for Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience required:

Experience in a medical office or related customer service field is essential. Preferred candidates will have familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ability to manage conflicts effectively and professionally is crucial.

Strong time management skills are required, with a focus on meeting deadlines. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are also necessary.
