Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Pool Safety Specialist at the Greater Somerset County YMCA. This role is responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lifeguarding principles and be able to create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining active surveillance of the pool area
  • Addressing member concerns and directing members to program areas or lane needs
  • Assisting with swim lessons and deck supervision as needed
  • Responding to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 15
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen
  • Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
