Job Description

This is a key role within the Human Resources department, responsible for ensuring labor law compliance, managing payroll, benefits, leave, and timekeeping, as well as enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Benefit administration and coordination with benefit providers.
  • Providing customer service to staff and handling inquiries related to medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and serving as a liaison with benefit providers.
  • Developing and implementing new hire and benefits orientation programs, as well as employee recognition initiatives.
  • Performing routine tasks to administer and execute human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attending and participating in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, including safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, integrity, and cultural diversity.
  • Conducting or acquiring background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Additional Duty

  • 10% of work week dedicated to COE activities.

Education and Certification

Bachelor's Degree or minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced HR certification(s) preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
