Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Registrar to join our team at The Floating Hospital. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, managing patient flow, and ensuring seamless communication between patients, providers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and their families in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring a positive first impression of our organization.
  • Schedules patients for medical, dental, and mental health providers, verifying insurance and co-pays as necessary.
  • Verifies patient insurance eligibility, collects co-pays, and calculates sliding fee scale charges.
  • Provides and collects necessary HIPAA documents, adhering to all compliance and confidentiality standards.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, providers, and staff, providing clear and concise information regarding appointments, insurance, and other important details.
  • Confirms appointments for the following day, verifying insurance and co-pays, and rectifies cash boxes at the end of each shift.
  • Recalls patients who missed appointments, attempting to reschedule and sending letters to those who cannot be contacted by phone.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, ensuring a positive and efficient environment for patients and staff.
  • Registers and updates patient demographics, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Works closely with the Billing Department and Medical, Mental Health, and Dental teams to ensure seamless communication and efficient patient care.
Requirements
  • High School degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of front desk/registration experience.
  • Valid NY state driver's license or non-driver ID/license, with knowledge of the New York City area.
  • Knowledge of current health insurance plans and verification of insurance eligibility.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with attention to detail and a reliable work ethic.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking required.
