Overview:


Supports the delivery and serving of meals across various settings, which may involve roles in the tray line, food assembly, or dining service areas.

Aids in the preparation of cold food items, portioning, tray assembly, meal service, delivery, and cleaning of kitchenware. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment in accordance with safety standards and regulations. Conducts cleaning and sanitation tasks as required. Delivers exceptional customer service to residents and patrons.

Responsibilities:

HACCP AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:
Ensures compliance with Department of Health regulations and aims for successful regulatory outcomes.

Follows established guidelines regarding attire, jewelry, and personal grooming.


Monitors and logs the temperature of all perishable goods during storage and delivery, as well as before and after service, to guarantee safety standards are met.


Records temperatures of refrigeration and ingredient storage areas to ensure proper conditions are consistently maintained, preserving the quality of prepared meals.


Stores all food items correctly, ensuring proper wrapping, labeling, and dating to maintain food quality.

Rotates inventory daily in all storage areas, adhering to a first-in, first-out system.

Maintains food quality control by inspecting for damaged, leaking, or spoiled products and reports any issues to management for resolution.

Reports any malfunctioning equipment to management for repair or replacement to ensure a safe working environment.

Must adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Must follow Loretto's policies and procedures regarding meal service and infection control practices during daily operations.

Reports all accidents, incidents, and hazardous conditions or equipment to management.

Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment.

May perform additional related duties as assigned.

SANITATION
Loads soiled dishes, trays, and other utensils into the dishwasher. Removes and inspects items after cleaning, storing them as directed by the site manager.

Maintains cleanliness in assigned areas, including sweeping and mopping as instructed.

Delivers tray carts or food carts to designated floors, notifying nursing staff upon arrival.

Disassembles trays, cleans carts, and sanitizes all work areas after each meal service.

Ensures beverage coolers are cleaned and stocked for meal service.

Empties waste from the kitchen, dish room, cafeteria, and pulper, disposing of it in appropriate receptacles. Cleans waste containers.

Sanitizes pots, pans, racks, and work surfaces. May assist in cleaning major kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, slicers, and coolers.

Loads soiled dishes, trays, and other utensils into the dishwasher. Removes and inspects items after cleaning, storing them as directed by the site manager.

Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or ability to pass a written TABE test.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.

Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift boxes, cartons, and pans of food weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, stand, walk, push, and pull.

Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).

Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Ability to adapt to varying temperature conditions while performing job duties.
