Job Summary:

This position provides critical support with the intake and processing of patients presenting for care, and other related activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule appointments in athenaNet and ensure accurate registration processes.
  • Prepare new patient charts and paperwork, greet patients and visitors in a professional manner, and communicate with patients during visits as necessary.
  • Accurately collect co-payments, outstanding balances, pre-payments, and payment plans at Check-In, and ensure patient education on patient portal usage.
  • Collect deductible, co-insurance, and payment for services not covered by insurance at Check-Out, and reconcile, balance, and close batches daily.
  • Answer inbound and/or make outbound telephone calls, schedule follow-up appointments, and monitor and check assigned Athena boxes and other assigned boxes for coverage.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits for all patients daily, and work at different Tryon office locations as needed.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required, and a declination form or record of vaccination from a previous employer may be accepted.
  • Completion of TB test will be required.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma; some college preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year medical office or healthcare facility experience, with EHR and Scheduling experience, and experience serving customers in person and on the phone.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, equipment, and supplies.
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers, ability to quickly respond to changing conditions and situations, and ability to concentrate on details.
