Position Overview:

TD Securities (USA) LLC is seeking a qualified individual to join its Houston-based investment banking team as an oil & gas analyst reservoir engineer within the Acquisitions & Divestitures group.

The ideal candidate will possess one to five years of pertinent petroleum engineering experience, emphasizing reservoir engineering, ideally with an operator or prior investment banking exposure. Familiarity with drilling, operations, and completions is advantageous.

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of investment banking professionals across a diverse range of products, including Acquisitions & Divestitures, Strategic Advisory, Debt Capital Markets, and Equity Capital Markets, focusing on upstream and midstream sectors.

The candidate will work alongside other technical specialists with backgrounds in engineering, geology, and related fields, primarily covering North America.

The role involves participating in and leading teams to secure sell-side and buy-side advisory mandates and executing these mandates. The successful candidate will assist in constructing and presenting business development materials, including studies, market updates, analyses, and valuations of both conventional and unconventional plays, companies, and other upstream and midstream activities.
  • Fundamentals of petroleum engineering, including reservoir, production, petrophysics, drilling/completions, facilities, and field development.
  • Strong geology background with skills in mapping, log analysis, and other geological competencies; experience with Petra is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering economics and proficiency in ARIES and PHDWin; familiarity with reservoir simulation, RTA, material balance, and DCA is beneficial.
  • Experience with US unconventional reservoirs is essential.
  • Ability to present findings to oil and gas professionals.
  • Experience with Enverus; familiarity with Spotfire and ArcGIS is advantageous.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, with VBA skills being a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably Petroleum or Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to present to large audiences.
  • Capacity to follow directions and demonstrate strong listening skills.
  • Ability to discuss topics such as upstream development plans and economic assessments.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong presentation skills using PowerPoint.
The Analyst in Investment Banking will provide specialized financial and statistical analysis across a wide range of marketing and execution activities. Responsibilities include conducting research, ongoing analysis, preparing supporting documentation, and assisting in due diligence efforts related to transactions.

Depth & Scope:
  • Works within a deal team under the guidance of a senior officer.
  • Assists in analyzing clients' financial situations, industry and market data, and M&A opportunities.
  • Supports valuations of private and public companies.
  • Performs basic to intermediate financial modeling in Excel.
  • Contributes to external client proposals and internal underwriting memos; assists in preparing client presentations based on the above.
  • Fosters an environment that promotes respect for individual employees and adheres to the policies and guidelines of the Bank.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information.
  • Provides a broad range of support to the team in a professional capacity.
Education & Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics.
  • Series 7, 79, and 63 certifications.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
