Position Overview:

TD Securities (USA) LLC is seeking a qualified individual to join its Houston-based investment banking team as an oil & gas analyst specializing in reservoir engineering within the Acquisitions & Divestitures sector.

The ideal candidate should possess one to five years of relevant experience in petroleum engineering, with a focus on reservoir engineering, ideally with an operator or previous investment banking exposure. Familiarity with drilling, operations, and completions is advantageous.

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of investment banking professionals across a wide array of products, including Acquisitions & Divestitures, Strategic Advisory, Debt Capital Markets, and Equity Capital Markets, primarily focusing on the upstream and midstream sectors.

The candidate will work alongside other technical specialists with backgrounds in engineering, geology, and related fields, with coverage primarily over North America.

The successful candidate will participate in and help lead teams in securing sell-side and buy-side advisory mandates, as well as executing these mandates. The individual will assist in developing and presenting business development materials, including studies, market updates, analyses, and valuations of both conventional and unconventional plays, companies, and other upstream and midstream activities.

  • Fundamentals of petroleum engineering, including reservoir, production, petrophysics, drilling/completions, facilities, and field development.
  • Strong geological background, including basic mapping, log analysis, and other geological skills; experience with Petra is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in engineering economics and a solid understanding of ARIES and PHDWin; familiarity with reservoir simulation, RTA, material balance, and DCA is beneficial.
  • Significant experience with U.S. unconventional reservoirs is essential.
  • Experience presenting to oil and gas professionals.
  • Familiarity with Enverus; knowledge of Spotfire and experience with ArcGIS is advantageous.
  • Exceptional proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite products; VBA skills are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably Petroleum or Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to present effectively to large audiences.
  • Willingness to take direction and demonstrate strong listening abilities.
  • Capability to discuss topics such as upstream development plans and economics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Strong presentation skills using PowerPoint.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a deal team under the guidance of a senior officer.
  • Assist in analyzing clients' financial conditions, industry data, and M&A opportunities.
  • Support the valuation of private and public companies.
  • Conduct basic to intermediate financial modeling in Excel.
  • Contribute to external client proposals and internal underwriting documents; assist in preparing client presentations based on the above.
  • Foster an environment that promotes respect for individual employees and adheres to the Bank's policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Serve in a professional capacity, providing a broad range of support to the team.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics.
  • Series 7, 79, and 63 certifications.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
