Senior Geoscience Analyst in Investment Banking

The Vice President/Director role is a pivotal position tasked with conducting geotechnical assessments and preparing geological documentation utilized for strategic advisory functions related to mergers, acquisitions, and various financial transactions in collaboration with the Institutional Banking division. The primary aim of this position is to produce high-caliber geological evaluations and technical documents that can be presented to clients and stakeholders as part of Citigroup's strategic advisory offerings for energy sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the technical assessment of oil and gas properties across Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream sectors, leading or supporting geological efforts on designated projects.
- Engage in all pertinent geological activities, including but not limited to: well log interpretation, regional basin mapping, landing zone evaluations, core sample analysis, and the creation of relevant subsurface maps and cross-sections.
- Conduct asset technical assessments, analyzing and delivering data to pinpoint critical subsurface performance indicators.
- Develop presentation materials for pre-marketing documents and data room showcases using both private and public data for validation.
- Lead or assist in coordinating execution mandates and external project discussions as necessary.
- Establish virtual data rooms based on information provided by clients.
- Market assets to prospective buyers by delivering analyses to large audiences and addressing inquiries from potential buyers.
- Carefully evaluate risks when making business decisions, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the firm's reputation and protecting Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, while exercising sound ethical judgment in personal conduct and business practices.
- 10-20 years of pertinent experience in an oil and gas operating environment or in acquisition and divestiture banking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Geographix, Petra, Petrel, or Kingdom; familiarity with Spotfire, ArcGIS, and other geospatial or analytical software is advantageous.
- SIE, Series 79, and 63 licenses should be obtained shortly after commencing employment if not already licensed.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Demonstrated capability to evaluate technical risks in economic assessments.
- Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects in a high-stakes environment.
- Consistently exhibits clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven skills in influencing and managing relationships.
- Highly driven individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced setting.
- Interest in gaining knowledge about energy banking finance, economics, and capital markets.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
