Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Senior Financial Controller oversees all fiscal operations of the organization; establishes and supervises effective financial controls and protocols, generates precise and timely reports and analyses, and offers strategic advice on financial matters affecting the organization.

Furthermore, the Senior Financial Controller reports directly to the Vice President of Finance for technical and fiscal issues. Collaborates closely with the General Manager and other Executive Committee members on operational challenges and ensures that the financial objectives of the organization are achieved.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assess the financial implications of all business decisions and ensure they are appropriately addressed.
  • Develop, direct, and execute strategies that facilitate the accurate, timely, and objective reporting of financial information while maintaining robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and comprehensive reports to summarize and project hotel revenues, expenditures, and profits.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor Accounting team members.
  • Coordinate audits of hotel financial records.
  • Compile reports required by regulatory bodies.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment with colleagues.
  • Embrace a culture of exceptional guest service in all interactions; promote courtesy, goodwill, and a positive demeanor in every encounter.
  • Execute any reasonable tasks as assigned or directed by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing hotel Accounting operations.
  • Strong verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • High work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on the business needs of the organization.
  • Basic computational skills to accurately generate required reports.
  • Ability to focus on multiple tasks in a short time frame and complete assignments within deadlines, despite frequent interruptions.
  • Capability to maintain excellent relationships with staff while ensuring confidentiality for both staff and guests.
  • Ability to participate in, and occasionally lead, departmental and/or organizational team meetings.
  • Compensation range $90k-$110k.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Lift approximately fifteen (15) pounds.

  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, ten-key calculators, printers, multi-line phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other necessary office equipment.
