Position Summary:

We are currently looking for a Food Safety and Sanitation Supervisor to lead and support our operations management in adhering to the corporate Safe Quality Foods (SQF) plan. This role is crucial for overseeing and maintaining the Food Safety System (FSS) and sanitation practices at our designated Growing Center. The Supervisor will provide essential guidance, communication, and follow-up on FSS policies, procedures, and documentation while coordinating the resolution of specific policy-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the SQF Program at the assigned Mastronardi Produce growing center.
  • Serve as the designated SQF Practitioner, ensuring compliance with relevant FSMA training.
  • Maintain FSS documentation, databases, records, and filing systems.
  • Log and track non-compliances and FSS incidents, conducting investigations and coordinating follow-ups.
  • Assist in the development of training programs and conduct training sessions while maintaining training records.
  • Develop and conduct audits of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintain relevant records.
  • Prepare and lead third-party, government, and customer audits, ensuring follow-up actions are taken.
  • Conduct routine checks to verify proper record-keeping by the Operations Team.
  • Compile and report FSS data to management.
  • Manage sanitation personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation chemical usage and storage as per established programs.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team at the assigned facility, acting as the emergency contact for food safety-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science, biological sciences, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Management roles, with specific knowledge of SQF Systems and FSMA implementation.
  • HACCP Certification is required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred, depending on location.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Experience in conducting traceability and recall exercises.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, ISO 9001, cGMP, and SQF.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all business levels.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Technical proficiency, including computer skills and data management.
  • Ability to document preventative and corrective actions effectively.
  • Valid passport and driver's license are required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a greenhouse environment with temperatures reaching up to 100°F.
  • Occasional physical lifting may be required.
  • Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
  • Must be able to work around bees and climb platform ladders.
