Position Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated Food Safety and Sanitation Supervisor to lead and support our operations management in adhering to the corporate Safe Quality Foods (SQF) plan. This role is crucial for overseeing and maintaining the Food Safety System (FSS) and sanitation protocols at our designated Growing Center. The successful candidate will provide guidance, facilitate communication, and ensure compliance with FSS policies and procedures while addressing any policy-related issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the SQF Program at the assigned Mastronardi Produce growing center.
  • Act as the designated Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Practitioner, ensuring compliance with all relevant FSMA training requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive FSS documentation, databases, and records.
  • Log and track non-compliances and FSS incidents, conducting investigations and coordinating follow-ups to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of FSS training programs, maintaining accurate training records.
  • Conduct audits and maintain records in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Prepare and lead third-party, government, and customer audits, ensuring compliance with all standards.
  • Conduct routine audits of the internal Food Safety Program and verify proper record-keeping by the Operations Team.
  • Compile and report FSS data to management, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage sanitation personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, while enforcing departmental policies.
  • Implement Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of sanitation chemicals in line with established programs.
  • Participate as a key member of the leadership team at the assigned facility, acting as the emergency contact for food safety-related issues.
  • Be available after hours to address emergencies and technical issues for a 24/7 distribution operation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science, biology, chemistry, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Management, with specific knowledge of SQF Systems and FSMA implementation.
  • HACCP Certification is required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred, depending on location.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Experience in conducting traceability and recall exercises.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, ISO 9001, cGMP, and SQF.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Technical proficiency, including computer skills and data management.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a greenhouse environment with temperatures reaching up to 100°F.
  • Occasional physical lifting may be required.
  • Must be able to work around bees and climb platform ladders.
  • Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
