We are currently looking for a Food Safety and Sanitation Supervisor to oversee and enhance our Food Safety System (FSS) and sanitation practices at our greenhouse facility. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with our corporate Safe Quality Foods (SQF) plan and will involve providing leadership and support to our operations management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the SQF Program at the designated facility.
  • Act as the designated SQF Practitioner, ensuring compliance with relevant training requirements.
  • Maintain and organize FSS documentation, databases, and records.
  • Log and track non-compliances and incidents, conducting investigations and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of FSS training programs, maintaining accurate training records.
  • Conduct regular audits of the internal Food Safety Program and ensure proper record-keeping by the Operations Team.
  • Prepare for and lead third-party, government, and customer audits.
  • Manage sanitation staff, ensuring effective training and high performance standards.
  • Implement and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule to ensure a safe and quality product.
  • Serve as the emergency contact for food safety issues, addressing them promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science, biology, chemistry, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Management, with knowledge of SQF Systems and FSMA.
  • HACCP Certification is required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred, depending on location.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Experience in conducting traceability and recall exercises.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, ISO 9001, and SQF.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Technical proficiency in data management and computer skills.

Working Environment:

  • Work will be conducted in a greenhouse environment with temperatures that may exceed 100°F.
  • Occasional physical lifting may be required.
  • Must be comfortable working around bees and climbing ladders.
