Job Summary

Samtec, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Additive Manufacturing department, you will be responsible for evaluating existing additive processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and enhance quality.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process Optimization: Lead and execute experiments to identify key process variables using DOE type methodologies or other analytical methods.
  2. Manufacturing Best Practices: Develop manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions that improve Additive Manufacturing operation.
  3. Problem-Solving: Use Six Sigma DMAIC process or other similar methods to determine root cause/solutions to process challenges.
  4. Process Capability Studies: Use statistical methods and conduct process capability studies to determine if the process is meeting key process requirements.
  5. Design for Manufacturability: Develop process criteria to determine if Additive designs/processes are ready for full volume production.
  6. Collaboration: Collect and interpret data from other technical and operating staff involved.
  7. Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering calculations based on statistical data and utilize that information to drive process improvements and implement effective manufacturing strategies.
  8. Research and Development: Develop/research new Additive Manufacturing methods that help advance the department & company long-term.
  9. Technical Guidance: Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other departments/sites that utilize Additive Manufacturing processes.
  10. Cross-Functional Relationships: Develop cross-functional relationships that help promote and engrain Additive into the organization.
Requirements
  1. Experience: 3-5+ Years' Experience in Additive Process Engineering. Manufacturing experience is desired. (Willing to adjust compensation/title for more than 5 year's experience)
  2. Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, reporting, and data mining.
  3. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative mindset.
  4. Problem-Solving Background: Six Sigma or Problem-Solving background is highly desirable.
  5. Lean Manufacturing: Lean Manufacturing experience.
  6. CAD Skills: CAD skills/design experience.
  7. Self-Direction: Self-starting, self-directed with very good influential, organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Education
  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, etc.).
