Job Summary

Creative Financial Staffing is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our client's accounting team in the South Columbus area. As a key member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the cost accounting system, incorporating an understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Accounting System Management: Manage and maintain the cost accounting system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Manufacturing Operations Analysis: Analyze manufacturing operations and provide insights to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including daily operating performance analysis, to identify significant issues and trends.
  • Inventory Management: Perform monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • CAPEX Management: Process CAPEX requests, track spend, and capitalize assets as required.
  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to support job duties and provide insights to management.
  • Operating Forecasts: Prepare and monitor operating forecasts based on budgets, reviewing significant variations and analyzing operating impact.
  • Labor and Overhead Rates: Establish labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets.
  • Annual Cost Roll and Inventory Revaluation: Perform annual cost roll and inventory revaluation, working with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years supporting a manufacturing business, with 4+ years of cost accounting experience.
  • Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, advanced proficiency with Excel, and strong communication skills.
  • ERP Experience: 4+ years using ERP systems, with EPICOR experience preferred.
