Job Summary

The City of North Bend, OR is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Police Reserve Unit as a Reserve Police Officer. As a Reserve Police Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and serving our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform reserve peace officer functions, including community events, patrol, and investigations.
  • Control traffic, provide security for school district functions, and enforce state and local traffic regulations.
  • Work directly with citizens in the areas of criminal and civil law enforcement.
  • Attend regular monthly meetings, trainings, and complete the reserve field training evaluation process.
  • Patrol roads, residential and business areas of the city, and respond to a wide variety of radio calls.
  • Assist the public in answering inquiries, aid stranded motorists, and conduct vacation house checks.
  • Make arrests and issue citations when required, and handle and transport prisoners as needed.
  • Prepare full and comprehensive reports on major and minor activities within the officer's jurisdiction.
Requirements
  • Experience involving public contact.
  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent GED certificate.
  • Previous experience in law enforcement and/or college-level law enforcement-related courses desired but not required.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Working Conditions

Reserve Police Officers work in a fast-paced environment, often in stressful situations. They must be able to maintain mental fitness and deal courteously and firmly with the public.
