Financial Counselor 2-ED Specialist

The Financial Counselor 2-ED plays a vital role in assisting patients navigating the financial process from MSE to discharge or admission in our Emergency or Advanced Urgent Care departments. This position contributes to all functions of the financial office, serving as a resource to colleagues and verifying benefits, eligibility, and facilitating authorization from payers and medical groups.
Key responsibilities include obtaining pertinent documentation to support authorization requests, maintaining ongoing communication with payers, primary care physicians, and RN service coordinators as necessary. The Financial Counselor 2-ED creates and executes financial contracts with patients and payers for both LLUMC facility and LLUHC professional services according to LLUMC policy.
Requirements:- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum three years customer service experience required; preferably in hospital-based registration, physician's office, Medical Group registration specializing in Managed Care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and/or California Children's Services
- Experience with Federal, State, and County eligibility regulations preferred
- Excellent Customer Service skills required
- Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; deliver the highest level of customer service to all patients, family, internal and external customers
- Use of computer, printer, and software programs necessary to position (e.g., Microsoft applications, patient accounting, registration and insurance eligibility applications)
