Join the Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program, a unique initiative designed for individuals aged 55 and above, to contribute to the Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). This program, administered by National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions), values your skills and experience in a collaborative environment with NRCS staff engaged in vital conservation efforts.

This opportunity is available to applicants legally authorized to work in the United States.
Applicants should possess a minimum of 20 years of experience in planning and executing agricultural and natural resource management initiatives on grazing lands. Direct experience with agricultural producers in conservation planning, including the inventory, assessment, and monitoring of grazing land practices, is essential. Proficiency with NRCS's grazing lands technical tools, such as HRH, PCS, ESDs, and NRI, is required. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Agriculture or Animal Husbandry is acceptable.
- Must hold a valid State Driver's License.
- Proficient in Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel.
This role will support the Ecological Science Division at NHQ and collaborate with NRCS Technical Centers and state offices across the United States. The selected candidate will work independently and remotely, engaging directly with USDA customers and NRCS personnel. Effective communication with NRCS field operations staff and agricultural producers is crucial for discussing ongoing projects.
Specific duties include:
- Providing training, mentoring, and guidance to junior staff involved in the grazing program (50%).
- Assisting in the inventory, assessment, planning, and monitoring of conservation practices using NRCS's technical tools (30%).
- Gathering and compiling technical data for conservation plans and Farm Bill contract participation (10%).
- Supporting the National Grazing Lands Discipline Lead with additional Farm Bill Program activities as needed (10%).
- Annual training on information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights.
- Occasional travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Overnight travel is expected approximately once a month.
- Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
