REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Operations
POSITION SUMMARY: The primary focus of this role is to provide guidance to students and their families regarding financial assistance options.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide students and families on eligibility criteria for federal, state, and institutional financial support.
- Evaluate financial aid applications; conduct needs assessments to determine financial requirements for both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Assist students in estimating their educational costs, determining their financial needs for the academic year, and developing a financial aid strategy.
- Ensure adherence to all financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations during the application review process.
- Collaborate with various college departments and external organizations to resolve issues, expedite processing, and gather necessary information.
- Oversee the processing of applications and the administration of all financial aid programs, including but not limited to:
- Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling
- Federal Pell Grant and SEOG Grant reconciliation
- Work Study Reconciliation, including processing time sheets
- New York State TAP Grant Reconciliation
- Reconciliation of federal student loan proceeds
- Certification of private education loans
- Conduct application verification, resolve conflicts, and apply professional judgment as necessary.
- Represent the office at promotional events (Open Houses, Orientation, Workshops, Accepted Students Day, etc.).
- Assist the director and associate director with special initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and student assistants as needed.
- Be available for evening and weekend hours as required.
- Travel to meetings, training sessions, and conferences as necessary.
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3-4 years of experience in financial aid strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Title IV programs and regulations.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience with Datatel software preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and general computer skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all relevant financial aid regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Commitment to implementing quality customer service practices.
