About the Role

Nuvance Health is seeking a skilled Histology Technologist to join our team. As a Histology Technologist, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for examination by pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately fix, embed, cut, and stain tissue samples for pathologist interpretation and diagnosis.
  • Provide exceptional technical and customer service to all customers, ensuring compliance with organizational expectations.
  • Perform computer accessioning and proper specimen labeling to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Assist pathology residents and pathologists as needed in frozen section and gross room.
  • Conduct routine histology procedures, including embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining, to prepare slides for examination.
  • Perform special stains in accordance with quality standards.
  • Initiate work procedures and perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and documentation required by accrediting agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, pathology residents, and pathologists to ensure quality and integrity of the service.
  • Maintain a safe environment for oneself and coworkers, complying with regulatory agencies and hospital and laboratory safety programs.
  • Assist in maintaining section inventory to ensure proper levels of reagents, controls, and disposables.
  • Participate in laboratory performance improvement programs.
  • Teach and train new employees, students, and pathology residents.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum one year of experience preferred.
  • Histotechnologist certification preferred or eligible.
