Job Overview

First Nick Companies is seeking a dedicated full-time Foreman to oversee our construction projects. The Foreman plays a pivotal role in managing daily operations and ensuring the successful execution of tasks. This position requires a blend of leadership, coaching, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills, all of which are essential for the project's success.

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed accurately, safely, and on schedule, adhering to our high standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing field Standard Operating Procedures in daily tasks.
  • Applying knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Maintaining a client-focused attitude and addressing their needs proactively.
  • Documenting and managing all daily job site activities.
  • Directing project personnel according to the project plan and Field Manager's guidance.
  • Providing performance feedback and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Communicating daily with the Field Manager regarding issues, events, and job progress.
  • Seeking advice from the Field Manager or Project Manager as needed.
  • Building effective working relationships with the entire project team.

Pre-Construction Duties

  • Reviewing the company job binder with the Field Manager to understand the schedule, scope of work, approved colors, and finishes.
  • Conducting walkthroughs of new projects with the Field Manager before work begins.
  • Understanding the construction schedule and the timelines for the scope of work.

Scheduling Responsibilities

  • Weekly review of the three-week look-ahead schedule with the Project Manager.
  • Assisting the Field Manager with employee scheduling based on job requirements.
  • Reporting employee requests for time off to the HR department in advance.
  • Documenting instances of tardiness in daily reports.

Site Management Tasks

  • Overseeing the project crew to ensure timely and accurate task completion.
  • Understanding the distinction between standard work and additional work, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Ordering materials in advance to ensure availability on-site.
  • Training and supervising team members.
  • Managing employee performance and quality control according to company standards.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Safety Oversight

  • Conducting daily site inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety plans.

Quality Management

  • Familiarizing oneself with the Quality Management Process and assisting the team with its implementation.
  • Participating in weekly subcontractor meetings and reporting any issues to the Field Manager.
  • Reviewing and addressing any concerns from the three-week look-ahead schedule.

Administrative Duties

  • Submitting weekly progress photos.
  • Reporting employee issues to HR for further action.
  • Documenting employee hours accurately.
  • Enforcing company policies to maintain a respectful and safe work environment.
  • Documenting all on-site materials and ensuring proper maintenance of tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate job sites, including climbing ladders and traversing uneven surfaces.
  • Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings and computer work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to job sites.
