Position Overview: Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and project teams to ensure adherence to construction site regulations, company policies, and compliance with industry standards. Facilitate training sessions on safe operational practices that inform and educate, while guiding project teams in managing environmental and hazardous materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) protocols on a designated construction project, adhering to safety staffing guidelines established by Headquarters (HQ) EH&S policy.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with project teams to lead and implement assigned EH&S initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of safety.
  • Evaluate project EH&S measures and identify potential safety risks, formulating and executing action plans to enhance safety awareness and practices among project teams.
  • Communicate necessary improvements to project leadership and teams, ensuring compliance with specific safety standards and best practices.
  • Conduct training on EH&S policies and environmental operational programs for project leadership and teams, including external partners and subcontractors.
  • Perform thorough assessments of environmental risks through Phase I, Phase II, and pre-demolition surveys, ensuring project-specific strategies are in place to mitigate these risks.
  • Analyze and interpret environmental and hazardous materials reports, as well as OSHA and EPA regulations, to guide project teams and inform EH&S leadership.
  • Design and implement health and safety programs that benefit the entire project team.
  • Prepare reports detailing project safety performance and present findings to stakeholders during project meetings.
  • Negotiate contracts with service providers for safety services and health facilities.
  • Supervise and mentor the Project Safety team, aligning individual goals with project and company objectives, and participating in the hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant construction safety experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as a Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training and maintenance of current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
  • Proficient in safety and environmental principles and practices.
  • Understanding of general construction operations.
  • Experience in incident management and the ability to identify and address safety-related exposures.
  • Management experience with skills in delegating and directing the work of others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective presentation abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and professional relationships.
  • Able to adapt to a non-structured environment and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel and possess reliable transportation.
