Job Summary


Baltimore City Community College's School of Arts and Social Sciences is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Education.

This 10-month faculty position requires candidates to possess administrative experience and be equipped to instruct in courses such as introductory education, special education, developmental processes, reading competency instruction, elementary teaching methodologies, educational assessment, and more.

The Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Education will be responsible for teaching 9 credit hours each semester to a diverse group of learners through various instructional modalities, including face-to-face, virtual, and online formats (day or evening). Additional responsibilities include maintaining scheduled office hours, developing and revising curriculum, managing course and program assessments of student learning outcomes, and engaging in service to the college and the school through meetings, committee participation, and events. This role is pivotal in advancing the Education program and assisting the Associate Dean with other assigned duties.

Responsibilities/Duties


Teaching and Instruction:
  • Contributes to the college's mission and objectives through effective teaching practices.
  • Exhibits expertise in subject matter through exceptional content delivery and pedagogical approaches in Education courses.
  • Provides input for the development of instructional standards and policies within the Education program.
  • Uploads current syllabi, readings, and assignments while ensuring timely submission of grades.
  • Maintains attendance records accurately.
  • Offers academic guidance to students for effective planning.
  • Incorporates contemporary instructional technologies into the learning environment.
  • Delivers meaningful feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Holds required office hours for student support.

Service and Professional Development:
  • Actively engages in college, school, and program coordinator meetings.
  • Participates in college and school committees.
  • Serves as a member of the Education Program Advisory Committee.
  • Contributes to student success by advising from initial enrollment through graduation.
  • Stays informed about developments in various fields and disciplines within Education.

Coordination:
  • Recruits and recommends adjunct instructors for hiring.
  • Enhances the visibility of the Education program by providing leadership and maintaining relationships with community partners.
  • Collaborates with local school systems to support articulation agreements.
  • Communicates effectively with students through various channels.
  • Maintains accurate records of student progress and academic achievements.
  • Develops and implements assessments of student learning outcomes.
  • Maintains quantitative and qualitative data to support student learning and outcome assessments.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Five or more years of experience as a full-time instructor in a college or university setting, preferably within a community college.
  • Experience with learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Experience with dual enrollment programs and teaching advanced adolescent students.
  • Commitment to working with underrepresented populations.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning systems.
