Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to fulfill the role of Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator. This position encompasses both educational instruction and clinical oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

Design and deliver engaging class sessions in accordance with the Master Syllabus, utilizing digital content and multimedia resources. Evaluate student engagement and comprehension during each session, while collecting, grading, and reporting assignments and homework. Monitor student progress and provide necessary remediation for those lacking prerequisite knowledge. Select appropriate course materials aligned with the Master Syllabus and maintain course syllabi and materials on the designated learning platform. Develop innovative digital instructional materials to enhance pedagogical effectiveness.


Clinical Coordination:

The Clinical Coordinator will oversee all facets of the clinical experience for students, including organization, administration, and continuous evaluation of clinical sites. This role involves coordinating off-campus field experiences and facilitating research opportunities, ensuring students gain the necessary skills for credentialing and employment as Surgical Technologists.


Individualized Learning:

Recognize and address the diverse learning styles and needs of students, including those from various cultural backgrounds and at-risk populations. Provide guidance to help students achieve their educational objectives and foster an environment conducive to self-reflection and goal-setting.


Assessment and Evaluation:

Contribute to the development of departmental standards and utilize diverse strategies for assessing student learning. Engage in monitoring and evaluation processes, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.


Curriculum Development:

Actively participate in the design and revision of the curriculum to align with institutional goals and community needs. This includes defining program outcomes, developing competency standards, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation methods.


Professional Growth:

Maintain active membership in relevant professional organizations and engage in continuous professional development to enhance effectiveness in the role. Mentor colleagues and promote a culture of positive change and growth within the educational environment.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods, reach in various directions, and utilize fine motor skills for handling medical equipment. Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with students in a variety of settings are essential.


Qualifications:

Required:
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of current surgical technology experience, either in a clinical role or as an instructor.
- Credentialed in surgical technology through a nationally recognized certification program.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in healthcare or a related field.
- Previous teaching experience and familiarity with curriculum development and instructional technology are highly desirable.
