About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team at Duke University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care, coordinate services, and educate patients and families in the clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Triage calls, resolving problems within scope, and coordinate follow-up with providers to develop a plan and convey it back to patients.
  • Assist with medication refills, referral management, completion of needed forms, and other tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing and outpatient appointments, both at Duke and outside facilities.
  • Provide patient and family education on plan of care for procedures, therapies, and equipment.
  • Delegate tasks and direct the activities of unlicensed care providers, such as schedulers, medical assistants, and staff assistants.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina is required.
  • BLS Certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of nursing experience with one year of pediatric experience.
  • Experience with telephone triage or managed care coordination.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, software navigation abilities, and good organizational skills.
