Duke Health is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Medical Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a Pediatric Medical Hospitalist, you will provide direct patient care services to children 0–21 years in inpatient and outpatient settings under various service lines.

Job Summary

The Pediatric Medical Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work collaboratively with the attending physician, fellows, and residents to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients. The APP will perform physical exams, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate the care and discharge of patients, and provide direct patient care services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the attending physician and other healthcare team members to develop and implement treatment plans for pediatric patients.
  • Provide direct patient care services, including physical exams, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and medication management.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations as needed.
  • Prescribe appropriate interventions and medications for pediatric patients.
  • Coordinate the care and discharge of patients, including arranging for follow-up appointments and referrals as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical pathways and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current unrestricted medical license issued by the NCMB with authorization to practice as a PA or current unrestricted RN license issued by or recognized by the NCBON with authorization to practice as a NP.
  • 1 or more years' experience as an inpatient acute care pediatric advanced practice provider.
  • BLS and PALS certification.
