Position Summary:
Marin Community Clinics, established in 1972, operates as a comprehensive multi-clinic network offering a diverse range of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. The Bilingual Nursing Professional is tasked with executing clinical procedures, managing patient triage, and fulfilling nurse case management responsibilities. They also perform administrative duties, such as evaluating lab results, providing consultations as necessary, managing the nursing hotline, and coordinating appointments with patients and external providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure timely follow-up on phone inquiries within one hour and document responses as requested by healthcare providers by the end of the shift.

Conduct patient triage according to established protocols, including walk-ins and late arrivals, as well as via telephone.

Execute clinical procedures, including but not limited to catheterizations, phlebotomy, IV therapy, and wound care, while assisting healthcare providers and performing tasks accurately and thoroughly as per established protocols.

Administer injections, including insulin, antibiotics, pain management medications, and immunizations, adhering to standard procedures and as demonstrated in skills assessments.

Assess pre-operative requirements and schedule appointments accordingly, ensuring completion of pre-operative checklists and arranging necessary labs and tests.

Provide patient education on various topics, including asthma management, diabetes care, medication adherence, wound care, and recognizing symptoms that require medical attention.

Distribute appropriate educational materials and documentation.
Respond to and manage urgent medical situations according to established protocols. Maintain emergency equipment and order supplies as needed.

Review and prioritize incoming lab results throughout the day, ensuring follow-up is completed before the end of the nursing shift.

Address patient inquiries regarding lab results, medical concerns, and disease processes, seeking additional information and assistance as necessary.
Collaborate with Medical Assistants to maintain efficient patient flow, complete MA responsibilities, and direct patient flow as needed.
Monitor patients on anticoagulant therapy, tracking results and observing trends for PT/INRs, as well as managing other specialty medications as directed.
Perform all MA duties as necessary to provide coverage during staff shortages. Refer to the MA job description for standards.
Offer basic healthcare information and advice to clients within the scope of nursing practice.
Conduct suture removals and blood pressure checks.
Engage in nurse case management, monitoring anticoagulant therapy and other medications as directed by healthcare providers. Coordinate pre-operative care and collaborate with home care services and other providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Accurately execute provider orders in a timely manner for nursing follow-up.
Contact patients to arrange repeat lab tests when necessary.
Maintain emergency equipment and oxygen supplies according to protocols, logging inventory and ordering supplies monthly.
Conduct pediatric assessments and clinical interventions per established protocols. Assess, triage, or room patients, including but not limited to catheterizations, immunizations, and nebulizer treatments.
Conduct adult assessments and clinical interventions per established protocols. Assess, triage, or room patients, including but not limited to nebulizer treatments, EKGs, injections, and wound care.
Maintain current CPR certification and a valid California RN license, renewing as necessary.
Oversee inventory and ordering of immunizations, medications, and medical supplies, ensuring availability.
Proficiently utilize the medical management system for scheduling appointments, researching patient information, and checking provider schedules.
Assist the Nursing Administrative Assistant with medication refill requests, monitoring narcotic requests, and auditing charts to ensure compliance with policies.
Serve as a resource for Medical Assistants in decision-making and patient safety.
Participate in Care Team responsibilities as outlined in the Care Team Patient-Centered Medical Home procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Associate or BA/BS degree required.
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a comparable environment, or equivalent.
Valid California RN license.
Current CPR/BLS Certification.
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, following written protocols.
Sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences and their impact on healthcare.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods of typing and sitting at a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Covid-19 Vaccination Requirements:

All employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including required boosters, as a condition of employment, with limited exemptions.
New hires must provide proof of full vaccination and booster prior to the first day of employment.
If the primary series was completed early and boosters are pending, the new hire will be required to receive the most recent booster and wear a mask until completed if hired.
