Senior Storekeeper Role at Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Under general oversight, responsible for managing a well-sized stockroom, ensuring a varied inventory is properly stocked and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs, oversees, and evaluates staff work to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Manages storeroom activities including material handling and inventory upkeep.
  • Procures stock items, collaborates with other departments, and maintains accurate inventory records.
  • Organizes work operations, suggests material handling strategies, and utilizes inventory management systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Engages with suppliers for deliveries, analyzes inventory reports, conducts training for staff, and fulfills assigned tasks.
Work Environment: Operate in a warehouse/storeroom setting with exposure to various tools, equipment, and materials. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with equipment, materials, and storeroom management practices.
  • Leadership and organizational capabilities, along with effective communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of high school education and four years of experience in computerized storeroom management.

Substitution Policy: Post-secondary education in relevant disciplines may substitute for up to two years of experience. Promotion Criteria:
  • One year of service as a Storekeeper and possession of Civil service status.
