Job Overview - Technical Product Management

Saxon Global is in search of a Senior Technical Product Manager with extensive experience in web technology platforms that enhance customer engagement.

As a Technical Product Manager, you will collaborate with technology teams to comprehend the requirements for sustaining and optimizing our technology infrastructure, ensuring its security, minimizing technical liabilities, and facilitating developer efficiency.

Your primary resources for aiding the organization will be comprehensive technology roadmaps developed in conjunction with IT Architecture, along with a well-maintained product backlog that reflects the technology needs of your assigned Scrum team.

This role directly supports our technology teams responsible for our web presence built on Sitecore, our mobile application utilizing Xamarin, our internal employee portal on MS SharePoint, and various integrated solutions for customer notifications and energy management.

On a daily basis, our Product Managers engage as integral members of a Scrum team, managing and refining our product backlog, prioritizing tasks, and providing immediate feedback on development activities in partnership with the Agile Delivery Lead (Scrum Master).

Additionally, you will assist IT leadership in estimating, sizing, and planning IT Operational Projects as part of ongoing portfolio management throughout the year, while also supporting technology enablement initiatives across other technology teams within the organization.

In essence, our Technical Product Managers are deeply involved in our technology implementations, concentrating on system integration and maintenance rather than the business product enablement aspects of these technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Utilizes advanced knowledge of web technology services to proactively identify opportunities and devise innovative solutions for processes in complex business and technology scenarios.

Promotes Agile methodologies with a strong emphasis on customer outcomes, team well-being, and accountability.

Engages in portfolio planning activities to clarify project or technology enablement tasks, assisting teams in breaking down work into manageable story maps.

Contributes to the formulation of team and departmental technology roadmaps to ensure alignment within teams.

Creates epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Tech Lead, Development team, and key stakeholders.

Regularly refines the technology or product backlog by clarifying acceptance criteria, estimating stories, associating and creating appropriate feature or epic level stories, updating work priorities, and removing outdated stories in partnership with development team members using aligned work management tools.

Prioritizes the time necessary to support the development team by clarifying story acceptance criteria, intent, and providing feedback on technology recommendations and solutions.

Reviews deliverables from the team to ensure they meet the acceptance criteria of the feature or story, and either accepts or rejects the work.

Maintains strong collaborative relationships with the Scrum Master (Agile Delivery Lead), Technical Lead, and aligned IT Architects for assigned technology initiatives, regularly collaborating on roadmap vision, technology product management, and synchronizing future technology investments with evolving team needs.

Advocates for the team during Scrum of Scrum sessions or portfolio reviews, illustrating the value of the team's activities to business initiatives and discussing past and current challenges with plans to address these issues in collaboration with the Scrum Master.

Demonstrates success in leading teams or collaborating with business partners and peers from other IT teams or departments, vendors, or consulting organizations.

Identifies key metrics and KPIs, along with reporting methods to ensure ongoing excellence in IT technology operations. Mentors peers to enhance professional practices.

In hybrid or waterfall project-aligned teams, supports or creates non-functional requirements. Regularly translates requirements into user stories on behalf of the project team. Conducts preliminary work before alignment with the Scrum team to perform systems analysis/design across multiple technology platforms. Participates in project ceremonies such as steering committee meetings or project go-live orchestration. Coordinates project-related communications to the Web Portal Team and key stakeholders on behalf of project leadership.

Estimates technology services required for large projects involving multiple departments, platforms, technologies, executive sponsors, or particularly high-risk business challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in a related field; or a combination of specialized training or experience and eight years of directly relevant experience.

Experience in business case development, requirements management, software product backlog management, story mapping, and use case development.

Understanding of IT technology services and software development lifecycles.

Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills for software product management, business processes, and key drivers and measures for success for represented business units.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated creative thinking and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Azure Dev Ops, and Visio.

Prior experience managing small to mid-sized projects or teams.
