Job Overview

The Swift Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with expertise in agile methodologies to enhance a team of developers focused on creating a comprehensive suite of AWS Serverless Applications. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Java APIs utilizing Spring Boot
  • Integrate Spring Boot applications with external third-party APIs
  • Collaborate with the database team to align models with PostgreSQL tables
  • Partner with the infrastructure team to deploy code to web servers
  • Promote new or enhanced development practices that improve craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of our solutions
  • Demonstrate new features and functionalities to clients
  • Create and execute unit tests for both new and existing Java code
  • Document processes and assist program management with deliverables related to backend functionality and user workflows
  • Support the team in crafting user stories and features for ongoing and upcoming projects
  • Assist the frontend team during integration with backend REST API calls
  • Engage in analysis efforts, identifying and recommending solutions, integration points, and related implementation architecture for business improvements, scalability, and performance.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and administrators through code reviews, solution design, and suggested training and development plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, database management, or a related field
  • 6+ years of proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, and DML with strong experience in Oracle and PL/SQL backend development
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud migration and hybrid cloud management solutions
  • 4+ years of extensive experience in system disaster recovery and backup solution engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of DBMS Job Control Language (JCL), access methods, performance tuning, and security
  • 4+ years of experience with VMWare or other virtualization technologies
  • Proven track record in providing technical leadership in architecture, engineering, and operational services
  • Experience in developing and integrating multiple data sources for customized dashboards for management and government clients
  • Familiarity with ITIL Framework, high availability, and enterprise infrastructure
  • Experience with build tools such as Maven, Ant; source control Git; xUnit testing frameworks like Junit; and Continuous Integration servers like Jenkins
  • Experience in creating secure application systems following IC security guidelines
  • Experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining IT infrastructure for systems hosted in cloud environments
  • Experience in reviewing and assessing the impact of proposed changes to future architectures
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional demeanor
  • Ability to create original documentation and architectural diagrams
  • Extensive experience in producing database-related documentation such as policies and procedures
  • Ability to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and mentor less experienced personnel
  • Expertise with AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field with relevant experience; or a Master's degree with less experience; or an Associate's degree with significant experience.
  • US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
