POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Software Engineer | Student Portal is tasked with the design, architecture, planning, development, documentation, and maintenance of software solutions managed by the AccelerEd Student Portal team. This role emphasizes front-end development, utilizing web framework technologies to provide an innovative and optimal user experience within an agile framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality software solutions based on specified requirements.
  • Engage with various web technologies, including React, AngularJS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with the Portal team to estimate, plan, and deliver user stories, bug fixes, and tasks during sprints.
  • Work alongside other teams to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Act as a development lead, offering guidance to team members.
  • Adhere to best practices to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.
  • Conduct code, environment, and design reviews to maintain quality standards.
  • Contribute to and lead delivery and deployment processes.
  • Work with testers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and address any defects; oversee the development and coordination of test plans and execution with QA resources as needed.
  • Manage testing environments across systems to execute end-to-end test plans.
  • Oversee deployment CI/CD processes.
  • Respond to incidents, problems, and emergencies with appropriate urgency and professionalism, delegating as necessary.
  • Monitor system traffic and alerts.
  • Participate in daily scrum stand-ups and Agile ceremonies.
  • Present solutions to enhance the current codebase or platform to the team.
  • Approve all code releases to production and execute deployment tasks, including code deployment, data migration, and verification testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in software development, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and technical certifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills to address technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Expertise in the development, testing, and operational support of web applications.
  • Experience in an agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as React, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JSON, JavaScript, Web Services, XML, and related technologies.
  • Proficient in using Visual Studio Code.
  • Experienced in front-end development.

Preferred Experience:

  • Development experience supporting customer portals and mobile applications.
  • Experience in the higher education sector.
  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft and Mulesoft.
  • Experience with GitHub Copilot and AWS CodeWhisperer.
  • Full-stack development experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in design and user experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is classified as hybrid and operates within a professional office environment.
