The Employment Support Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering direct services and support to individuals seeking to secure and sustain employment aligned with their career aspirations.

This role involves engaging with clients in various settings, including workplaces and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct outreach initiatives to connect clients with program offerings.

2. Build and nurture trusting, collaborative relationships aimed at achieving competitive employment in inclusive job environments alongside non-disabled peers.

3. Collaborate with clients to create personalized job support strategies. Consult with the mental health team to adapt plans based on client feedback and requirements. Undertake job development and search activities tailored to individual client interests. Provide education and support to family members as permitted by clients. Discuss clients' preferences regarding the disclosure of their mental health status to potential employers.

4. Ensure comprehensive support for clients starting new positions; meet with clients before and after job commencement to clarify job expectations.

5. Continuously assess client vocational capabilities using their background and work history. Offer tailored follow-up support to help clients maintain their employment. Provide timely and appropriate interventions as necessary. Educate and assist employers as directed by clients, which may involve negotiating job accommodations.
6. Maintain regular communication with local employers to understand their current staffing needs; present the program's support services and highlight client strengths relevant to available positions.

7. Assist clients in understanding their benefits (e.g., SSI, Medicaid) and the potential impact of regular employment; refer clients to benefits counseling when appropriate.

8. Aid clients in reporting their earnings as needed.
9. Engage in various outreach activities when established clients seem to disengage from services. Transport clients as required throughout the service area.
10. Maintain consistent attendance, professional communication, and confidentiality.

11. Participate in regular meetings with the mental health treatment team; communicate with team members between meetings to coordinate and integrate vocational services into mental health care.

12. Collaborate with the Community Support Services Team and serve as a liaison to Vocational Rehabilitation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field with two (2) years of experience in employment readiness, job development, and retention; OR
- High school diploma or GED with five (5) years of equivalent training and experience as described above.

Experience should include responsible case management and/or training with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness or developmental disabilities.

Experience in community support services, rehabilitative services, or vocational rehabilitation is preferred.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous.

Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable for client service purposes, including travel for meetings and training.

Must successfully pass all required background checks.
