As a Per Diem Physical Therapist, you will assess, design, and implement physical therapy treatment plans for both inpatient and outpatient clients, aiming to restore functionality, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities resulting from illness, injury, or loss of body parts. The role adheres to the practice standards established by state regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts comprehensive initial evaluations of patients, ensuring thorough documentation in a timely manner.
  • Sets realistic and achievable short-term and long-term rehabilitation goals for each patient.
  • Administers therapeutic exercises with precision and care.
  • Develops, modifies, and implements effective treatment programs based on evaluative findings.
  • Utilizes therapeutic modalities appropriately, including heat/cold therapy, ultrasound, massage, electrical stimulation, whirlpool treatments, and wound care.
  • Fits and trains patients on assistive, prosthetic, and orthotic devices.
  • Facilitates discharge planning and instructs patients and their families on home care programs.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provides supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants and aides during treatment sessions.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new Physical Therapists.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in assessing and treating patients across various age groups, including neonates, children, adolescents, and seniors.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand for significant durations, and perform manual tasks effectively. The therapist must be capable of lifting and moving patients, as well as demonstrating physical agility to perform various therapeutic techniques. Sensory capabilities must include tactile sensation for assessing muscle condition and the ability to hear and see effectively for patient interaction.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

  • A Master's Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
  • A valid Physical Therapist license in the applicable state is mandatory.
  • A Doctorate Degree is preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Current CPR certification is essential. Completion of necessary clinical affiliations and continuing education units to maintain licensure is required.
