ROLE OVERVIEW
The Nuclear Medicine Specialist operates under the guidance of the Chief Technologist of Nuclear Medicine. This role encompasses the execution of all imaging procedures available within the Nuclear Medicine Department. Responsibilities include maintaining and conducting quality control on all utilized equipment, ensuring patient safety while delivering high-quality imaging techniques. Services may be provided across various affiliated hospitals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute all imaging procedures in the Nuclear Medicine Department.
- Conduct routine quality control checks on imaging equipment.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Collaborate with medical staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine (N) or by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) is essential, along with State of California certification.
- Preferred qualifications include ARRT certification as a Technologist (CT) and State of California Radiologic Technologist certification.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficient in operating all relevant equipment and performing various tests.
- Ability to educate students and instruct patients effectively.
- Strong communication skills with physicians and colleagues.
- Capable of reading, writing legibly, and speaking English proficiently.
- Competent in using necessary computer software and troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and composure.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
