Key Responsibilities

The Healthcare Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely submission of accurate claims to insurance providers. This position is essential for resolving inquiries from insurers regarding services rendered, thereby optimizing revenue flow for our organization. The responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with insurance providers and patients through both verbal and written communication.
  • Implementing quality checks to guarantee that clean claims are dispatched to insurance companies.
  • Adjusting CPT and ICD-10 codes as advised by certified coding professionals, updating patient registrations, and conducting batch research.
  • Performing follow-ups and reconciliations on both credit and debit accounts.
  • Conducting audits on records and claims submissions, and initiating appeals when necessary.
  • Securing retro-authorizations for claims reconsideration.
  • Performing root cause analysis and generating trend reports for management to enhance accuracy measures.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to stay informed about the billing requirements of assigned payers; strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, billing and collection practices, and workflows is required; knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) is preferred.
