BronxWorks Outreach Specialist

BronxWorks is seeking a compassionate and persistent Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will engage with chronically street homeless individuals in the Bronx, building rapport and connecting them to essential services. Your dedication to helping others will make a tangible difference in the lives of our clients.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough and empathetic outreach as part of a two-person team
- Develop strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and circumstances
- Drive agency vehicles for mobile outreach work and transport clients as needed
- Collaborate with licensed clinicians to provide mobile medical outreach services
- Stay informed about available social services and resources within the agency and community, making referrals as appropriate
- Document all interactions with clients, maintaining accurate records
- Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the 24/7 operation of our outreach services
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Bilingual/multilingual skills a plus, but not required
- Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and basic typing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work
- TB Test required within the first 120 days of employment
