About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Systems Engineer to join our team at Edgewater Federal Solutions. As a key member of our IT Operations team, you will be responsible for developing and executing technology plans that drive business results.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Administration: Serve as a Systems team member, supporting unclassified and classified IT systems, including project planning, design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. military to integrate, troubleshoot, and document global enterprise IT systems.
  • Tier II and Tier III Support: Provide support services to maintain, manage, upgrade, and optimize infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Server Management: Responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of virtual and physical servers in data centers.
  • IT Infrastructure: Support O&M of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Windows desktop imaging and deployment, and virtualization technologies including servers, virtual desktops, applications, storage, and network from VMware, Citrix.
  • Cloud Services: Support implementation of O365 and Microsoft Azure and migration from legacy environment.
  • Application Support: Support wide variety of end user applications and assist application support teams in implementation and troubleshooting activities.
  • Security Compliance: Perform security STIG implementation on servers, Active Directory User/Group Management.
  • Group Policy Management: Perform Group Policy Management, Application Migration & Updates, OS Updates.
  • Audit and Compliance: Conduct account audits, access rights audits, and activity audits.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the other Server, SAN, Network, and Application teams, determine the presence of a problem, identify possible solutions, select the most appropriate solution, and implement that solution in a timely manner in accordance with Change Control Process.
  • Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards, policies, and procedures.
  • System Performance: Maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting, system hardware, installation, firmware patching, and VMware software patching.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required per contract.
  • IT Operations Experience: 3+ years relevant experience in IT Operations environment.
  • System Design and Configuration: 2+ years of experience directing system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, and other platform specifications.
  • VMware Experience: 3+ years of VMware ESXi/vSphere/vCenter experience. VDI Instant Clone management experience preferred.
  • Classified Systems Experience: 2+ years supporting classified systems.
  • Microsoft Server and Desktop Experience: An in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server, Exchange, and Desktop Environments (Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016).
  • Compliance Management: Expertise with Compliance Management through Group Policy.
  • Scripting and Automation: Basic experience utilizing VBScript and/or PowerShell to automate systems management, deployment, and implementation functions.
  • Citrix Experience: Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, XenMobile, NetScaler, etc.
  • Server and Storage Experience: Experience with blade and standalone servers from Dell, HP, Cisco, etc.
  • VDI Profile Management: VDI profile management solutions.
  • Systems Protocols: Proficiency with systems protocols such as TCP/IP, AD, DHCP, DNS, DFS, 2FA, Group Policy, ADFS, Azure AD and ADFS, etc.
  • Active Directory and File Share Management: Experience Administering Active Directory Users/Groups, Group Policy, File Share Permissions, NTFS Permissions.
  • Database Administration: Experience Administering MS SQL/Oracle Servers a plus.
  • Security Compliance and Tenable: Experience with Security Compliance and Tenable Security Center scan reports.
  • Patching and Maintenance: Experience with Monthly patching cycles. SCCM/LAN Desk experience preferred.
  • Performance Monitoring: Experience with performance monitoring tools like WhatsUp Gold and SolarWinds.
  • Cloud Infrastructure and SaaS/PaaS: Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure and SaaS/PaaS (Azure, O365, ServiceNow).
  • IP Networking and Switching: Thorough knowledge of IP networking, Switches, Routers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Virtual Infrastructure Experience: Experience maintaining and troubleshooting virtual infrastructures: VMware vSphere, vCenter, Horizon View, vRealize Operations, NSX, vSAN, vCloud, etc.
  • VMware Horizon and ESXi Experience: Experience managing and operating VMware Horizon and VMware ESXi 5.x, 6.x.
  • Hyper-converged Virtualization: Experience with hyper-converged virtualizations platforms.
  • Application Virtualization: Experience with Application Virtualization in a VDI environment.
  • Microsoft Azure Stack and Virtualization: Experience with Microsoft Azure Stack and Virtualization environments.
  • Linked Clone VDI Architecture: Experience with Linked clone VDI architecture for VM Horizon implementations.
