Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer/Grants Administrator to join our team at Brevard County. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will play a critical role in reviewing and analyzing traffic impact studies to inform development and permitting decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform experienced professional work in transportation engineering, reviewing and analyzing traffic impact studies to provide information for development and permitting decisions.
- Assist in the development of transportation improvement projects and research funding sources for traffic operations projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize transportation projects and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies to secure funding and resources for transportation projects.
- Prepare and submit grant applications and reports to secure funding for transportation projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Four (4) years of transportation and/or traffic engineering experience, including experience with transportation modeling and analysis software.
- Valid Florida Driver's license and ability to maintain said license during employment.
- Current Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE) certification as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
- Registration as a State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Travel to meetings and site visits as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
- Stand, walk, sit, and drive for extended periods.
- Repetitively perform fine manipulation, pulling, pushing, and simple grasping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience with transportation planning and policy development.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation funding programs.
