Role Summary:

As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to assist individuals reaching out for support through our crisis hotline. You will provide critical phone interventions to military veterans, active service members, and their families. Your expertise will be vital in directing callers to the appropriate resources and services available. This position requires full-time overnight availability.

*Availability for night and weekend shifts is essential*

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all incoming calls promptly and professionally, ensuring adherence to agency standards for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Assess the clinical needs and situations of all callers effectively.
  • Deliver safe and appropriate clinical interventions to all individuals seeking help.
  • Maintain thorough, clear, and accurate clinical documentation, including vital information for data collection and reporting purposes. Ensure timely internal referrals to relevant programs.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external clients, fostering a positive and flexible work environment.
  • Monitor clients placed on a 72-Hour Suicide Watch or Safety Follow-Up, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Be prepared to extend your shift without prior notice if urgent situations arise or if documentation is incomplete.
  • Participate in all mandatory meetings and training sessions, which may occur outside of regular working hours.
  • Assist in training new staff members as directed by the hotline clinical coordinator.
  • Before utilizing downtime for personal tasks, ensure that all program materials are stocked, the hotline area is organized, and any assigned projects are completed.
  • Attend in-person meetings, training, and agency events as requested, even outside of scheduled work hours.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field is required for Specialist positions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the behavioral health sector is essential.
  • Experience in crisis intervention is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • The typical work setting will be within an office environment.
  • Employees may occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel for training and other necessary engagements may be required.
  • Remote work options may be available as needed.
