Role Responsibilities:
As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, your primary role will be to assist individuals reaching out for support through our hotline, offering critical crisis interventions to military veterans, active service members, and their families. You will leverage your expertise to guide callers towards suitable services.
*Availability for overnight shifts and weekend coverage is essential*
Key Duties:
- Respond to all incoming calls promptly and professionally, ensuring agency standards for efficiency and customer satisfaction are met.
- Conduct thorough assessments of the clinical needs presented by callers.
- Deliver safe and effective clinical interventions tailored to each caller's situation.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, including vital information for data collection and reporting purposes. Ensure timely internal referrals to relevant programs.
- Collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a positive and flexible work environment.
- Monitor the status of clients on a 72-Hour Suicide Watch or Safety Follow-Up.
- Be prepared to extend your shift without prior notice in response to urgent crisis situations or incomplete documentation.
- Participate in all mandatory meetings and training sessions, which may occur outside of regular working hours.
- Assist in the training of new hotline staff as directed by the hotline clinical coordinator.
- Before utilizing downtime for personal tasks, ensure all program materials are stocked, the hotline area is organized, and any required reading or projects are completed.
- Attend in-person meetings, training, and agency events as requested, even if they fall outside of regular hours.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field is required for Specialist positions.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the behavioral health sector is essential.
- Prior experience in crisis intervention is preferred.
Work Environment:
- The typical work setting will be within an office environment.
- Employees should be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds as necessary.
- Occasional travel for training and other work-related purposes may be required.
- Remote work options may be available when necessary.
