Job Summary

La Frontera Center Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Crisis Specialist to join our team. As a Crisis Specialist, you will provide remote crisis interventions via chat and text to individuals in need, while also making referrals for available services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Crisis Interventions: Respond to chats and texts in a timely and professional manner, assessing clinical situations and providing safe and effective interventions.
  • Make Referrals: Forward internal referrals to the appropriate program(s) with all required information in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Clients: Work collaboratively with internal and external clients/customers, maintaining a positive attitude and flexibility to assist others.
  • Monitor Client Safety: Monitor call-in times for clients placed on a 72-Hour Suicide Watch or Safety Follow-Up.
  • Attend Meetings and Training: Attend all required meetings and training courses, even if they fall outside of the regularly scheduled shift.
  • Assist with Training: Assist the clinical coordinator in training new staff.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma and some awareness/education in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a directly related field.
  • Experience: Crisis, call center and chat & text experience preferred, as well as experience in the mental/behavioral health field.
  • Language Skills: Spanish/English bilingual required.
  • Certifications: Fingerprint clearance card required or eligibility to obtain one.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to document detailed information.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of technology, including chat & text functions.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively.
