Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Services Supervisor to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will be responsible for supervising and directing assigned personnel to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Direct Staff: Supervise and direct assigned Environmental Services staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and a safe and clean environment.
  • Verify Assignments: Verify that each responsible employee's daily assignments are being performed thoroughly and effectively.
  • Performance Evaluations: Complete performance evaluations for assigned staff and coordinate the establishment of goals and objectives for assigned staff.
  • Staff Development: Responsible for the interview, selection process, hiring process, orientation setup, training setup, competency testing for all new hires.
  • Counseling and Mentoring: Responsible for the counseling and mentoring of employees.
  • Discipline and Termination: Recommends promotion, demotion, or termination when identified.
  • Timekeeping and Scheduling: Reviews and approves electronic timecards and scheduling systems for all responsible staff.
  • Staffing and Scheduling: Schedules personnel to provide adequate staffing for assigned areas at all times.
  • Delegation and Utilization: Delegates tasks and responsibilities to subordinate personnel as needed while assuring proper utilization of human resources and supplies.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervises staff on all functions and processes provided by Environmental Services.
  • Supply Management: Orders supplies as needed; obtains special items, as requested.
  • Process Improvement: Develops new metrics as appropriate or requested by leadership and recommends process improvements to leadership.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Responsible for input to the writing, reviewing, and revising policy and procedures pertaining to the system Environmental Services department.
  • Representation and Communication: Represents Environmental Services and Geisinger in a credible and professional manner at all times.
  • Knowledge and Training: Maintains advanced knowledge of the Bed Management system and acts as Super-User and trainer for the staff and testing of new functions.
  • Team Environment and Communication: Works to promote a team environment and open communication within the work area.
  • Regulatory Compliance: OSHA, Department of Health, and Joint Commission regulations must be followed.
  • Cleaning Quality Inspections: Conducts Cleaning Quality inspections of assigned areas as directed.
  • Representation and Communication: Responsible to stand in for (or represent) the EVS Manager and EVS Director as assigned.
  • Staff Meetings and Communication: Conducts staff meetings and maintains communication within departments.
Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years-Relevant experience
  • Certification(s) and License(s): Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) within 18 months - Association for the Healthcare Environment
