Job Overview

Lighthouse Lab Services is recognized as a premier provider of clinical laboratory staffing solutions. We are currently seeking experienced Laboratory Supervisors to oversee the operations of a hospital laboratory. This role offers a significant opportunity for leadership, enabling you to drive innovation, manage transitions, and cultivate teamwork to ensure the delivery of top-tier services in our diagnostic laboratory.

Work Schedule:

Standard hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Alternative shifts: 3x12s from 3:00 PM - 3:30 AM on weekends and one weekday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily functions of the laboratory, ensuring both technical and administrative operations run smoothly.
  • Manage departmental staffing and production schedules to guarantee adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.
  • Provide direct supervision, training, and mentorship to laboratory personnel, taking full responsibility for departmental staff.
  • Ensure the laboratory meets high service standards and adheres to established corporate service metrics.
  • Address client inquiries and operational challenges promptly by collaborating with various department heads and directors.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements concerning personnel safety and quality assurance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory protocols and the installation of new equipment.
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract qualified candidates and manage employee performance and development.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all levels of the organization, including leadership and inter-departmental teams.
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings to ensure clear communication and address any operational issues.
  • Investigate any deviations from established protocols to implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on technical knowledge relevant to laboratory testing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Medical Laboratory Science accreditation from an accredited institution is mandatory.
  • A minimum of four years of supervisory experience in a clinical diagnostics environment is essential.
  • Certification from ASCP/MLS/MS or an equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience managing multiple direct reports is necessary.
  • Experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CLIA, CAP, AABB, TJC, and relevant state regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities are required.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the role.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $75,000 - $100,000
