Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Illuminus. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the grounds and exterior of our properties, ensuring they are safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain the grounds and exterior of our properties, including landscaping, lawn care, and general outdoor maintenance.
  • Ensure all campus grounds and properties are well-maintained, clean, and safe for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage and supervise grounds staff, summer interns, volunteers, and outside contractors as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to grounds equipment, including minor carpentry, painting, and use of hand and power tools.
  • Monitor and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, drives, lighting, and other exterior features for safety concerns.
  • Plant, water, fertilize, weed, deadhead, prune, and divide all bulbs, annuals, perennials, ornamental grasses, shrubs, trees, and indoor plants as needed.
  • Install and manage seasonal displays, including seasonal flowers, plants, autumn displays, and holiday lighting.
  • Apply herbicide, fertilizer, and other pesticides as needed, and remove and/or treat unwanted vegetation.
  • Maintain all campus water features and storm water systems, and keep detailed records of maintenance and inspections.
  • Facilitate resident gardening on campus, and provide daily work direction to seasonal grounds employees.
  • Perform snow removal on all campus grounds, and maintain all campus grounds equipment to comply with applicable codes and regulations.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school degree required or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years' experience with grounds-related equipment, broad knowledge of horticulture or landscape plants, turf maintenance, or any combination thereof.
  • Previous leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Commitment to quality programs and services for residents.
  • Excellent communications and human relations skills.
  • Ability to relate well to residents, family members, and personal representatives.
  • Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to understand and retain instruction, organize and delegate tasks.
