Job Overview

This role is integral to the mission of the Department and University, providing essential support to the Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Performance, Health and Wellness, along with their coaching staff. The focus is on optimizing the speed, strength, and conditioning of student-athletes through tailored, scientifically grounded training regimens.

Key Responsibilities

Dedicates full attention and energy to the responsibilities as the Athletic Performance Specialist for designated athletic teams. Adheres strictly to the regulations and policies set forth by the University, NCAA, and relevant conferences, ensuring compliance among all team members and student-athletes. Collaborates with the head coach to foster a positive environment for student-athletes, promoting healthy team dynamics and high retention rates. Actively works to cultivate an inclusive culture that values diversity, striving to recruit and retain student-athletes from varied backgrounds and skill sets. Employs reasonable efforts to enhance competitive success for the assigned athletic teams. Aims to achieve annual performance goals established by the Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Experience. Understands that their performance will be evaluated annually based on their responsibilities and duties.

Additional Departmental Expectations

Ensures adherence to safety protocols by all student-athletes, with all coaches certified in CPR and first aid. Collaborates with athletic trainers and medical professionals to implement comprehensive wellness and conditioning programs. Supports the head coach's directives regarding training objectives. Responsible for coordinating with various Athletic Department Offices to manage administrative tasks related to the assigned athletic programs. Works alongside the Assistant AD for Facilities to advise on the management and maintenance of relevant equipment and facilities. Participates in conventions, conferences, and clinics in alignment with Department and University policies. Serves on committees as assigned by the Department and University. As a member of a Division I program, represents the University and its athletic programs positively, engaging in speaking events, instructional clinics, and community relations initiatives. Monitors student-athletes' compliance with conduct, appearance, and punctuality standards.

Other Duties

Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required. At least one year of experience in strength and conditioning coaching is necessary. Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of physiological principles and various coaching philosophies is expected. Proven ability to educate diverse groups on strength and conditioning principles. Certification from recognized organizations such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association or equivalent is required or in progress. Physical demands include moderate to high activity levels, requiring extended periods of standing.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in strength and conditioning coaching at the intercollegiate level is preferred.

Physical Requirements

The role involves moderate to high levels of physical activity, including standing for extended periods. Responsibilities may include balancing, carrying, pulling, pushing, standing, repetitive movements, bending, and lifting.

Additional Information

This position is typically for one year, with the potential for reappointment.

Work Schedule

The schedule varies based on the needs of the position, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
