Job OverviewQuality Control Incoming Inspector Responsibilities
  1. Conducts mechanical assessments utilizing inspection instruments (such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc.) to verify that incoming, in-process, and outgoing products meet both customer and internal quality standards at our facility.
  2. Inspector Qualifications:
    1. Familiarity with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
    2. Evaluates and tests components, assemblies, and products using precision measurement and testing tools.
    3. Ensures that raw materials, in-process, and finished goods comply with company quality benchmarks.
    4. Receives components into the inspection area from the supply chain.
    5. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and identify necessary inspection tools.
    6. Proficient in using inspection equipment (i.e., calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc.).
    7. Collaborates closely with Supplier Quality Engineers to address production floor issues.
    8. Determines whether products are acceptable for the next phase of processing or if they require rejection, initiating a report in the system as necessary.
  3. Calibration Coordination:
    1. Provides calibration recall lists to relevant stakeholders.
    2. Oversees the shipping and retrieval of assets to and from vendors.
    3. Utilizes a database to monitor traceable assets for product validation.
    4. Documents any out-of-tolerance conditions and implements corrective measures.
  4. Additional Skills and Knowledge:
    1. Complies with all procedures and safety protocols.
    2. Knowledge of common SAE and Metric tool sizes is preferred.
    3. Exhibits strong attention to detail; organized and meticulous.
    4. Maintains a tidy work environment.
    5. Proficient in using business tools, including computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
    6. Experience with ERP systems and productivity software is desirable.
    7. Completes assigned training as required.
Skill Level Description:
  1. Mid to Advanced level - Capable of delivering measurable results in the inspection process.
  2. Possesses a strong mechanical aptitude.
Typical Education and Experience:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent; manufacturing experience is advantageous.
  2. 3 to 5 years of experience as a Quality Inspector.
  3. CMM certification is a plus.
  4. ASQ CQI certification is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  1. Position may require lifting/moving up to 75 lbs. frequently.
  2. Involves lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies regularly.
  3. Requires reaching above, below, or at shoulder height frequently.
  4. Above-average agility and dexterity needed for handling small parts and using hand and power tools consistently.
  5. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and manage physical exertion, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, and repetitive motions.
  6. Work environment includes proximity to moving mechanical parts and uneven surfaces.
