Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead a team of 12 engineers, programmers, and technicians, ensuring departmental performance, timely project completion, and providing guidance on design decisions.
  • Establish departmental goals and objectives aligned with broader engineering aims.
  • Develop and implement training programs, facilitate process improvement initiatives, and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Review new designs during the product development phase, recommending modifications to optimize cost, quality, safety, and production capabilities.
  • Provide technical support for design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for cost efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and feasibility, collaborating with the Director of Operations on cost-reduction projects.
  • Respond promptly to safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Oversee the investigation, justification, and acquisition of manufacturing assets.
  • Manage plant layout and collaborate with the Director of Operations on construction and expansion projects.
  • Act as a liaison among production, design engineering, inventory control, and sales to ensure efficient production coordination.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading, supervising, or managing engineering professionals in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in sheet metal manufacturing processes, including cutting, bending, machining, welding, painting, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
